Food sovereignty and war widows in Sri Lanka.

Series of activities being conducted through the network organizations by the NAFSO under the women and gender program to improve knowledge and activities to overcome food sovereignty issues. Under the activities planned to implement, distribute of dry food ration among war affected families for six months is completed its first round.

Jaffna, Mannar, Trincomalee, and Baticaloa districts war victims were received its first rations. In each district, 40 widowed families were selected to receive the food parcels. Most of them are war widows, and have no way of income to protect their families.

Under this program, we are expecting to build a strong network of widows and work for achieve food sovereignty goal for their families and their right to live as usual human in the society.

More district will be covered in the future with long term activities to achieve the goal.
